Energy, Health, and the Environment
The Global Innovation Center for Energy, Health and the Environment (GIC)
was founded in 2005 to facilitate solutions to energy, environmental and health problems in the
developing world through the formation of innovative business structures to disseminate these
products on the widest appropriate scale. A strong partnership between the Colleges of Engineering
and Business, the GIC conducts early stage research and development with the intent of feeding
developed products into entrepreneurial models.
The primary project of the GIC revolves around an effort to eliminate
indoor air pollution through the development of a clean-burning, fuel efficient cookstove for use
in the developing world.
